The traditional yellow Asiri scarf (Al-Mandeel) is a cornerstone of Southern Saudi women's heritage attire, historically serving as a beautiful reflection of a woman’s social status. A single woman would tie it behind her head, an engaged woman fastened it with a single knot in the front, and a woman who had signed her marriage contract secured it with two knots. For a married woman, it was wrapped elegantly around her entire headscarf (Sheilah). Traditionally, the scarf was adorned with wild basil and screwpine (Kadi), meticulously fixed onto it to infuse a distinct fragrance and aesthetic touch known as Al-Gharaz.
